Dr. Koshia shares experience & challenges to implement Eat Right India initiatives

Food Safety Mitra portal launched @ Lighthouse India

The first panel discussion on on-ground implementation experience of #EatRightIndia initiatives was organised. Panellists include State representatives from Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Chandigarh participated in the event.

Smt. Rita Teaotia, Chairperson, FSSAI, launched the Food Safety Mitra portal at the Lighthouse India event Under this initiative, FSSAI will certify qualified persons as ‘Food Safety Mitra’ (Friends of Food Safety). The #EatRightIndia Book and Docket of flyers on each initiative of FSSAI was launched today at the Lighthouse India event by Smt. Rita Teaotia, Chairperson, FSSAI.

Shri Pawan Agarwal, ceo_fssai, urges States to implement #EatRightIndia initiatives with necessary support from FSSAI, at the #LightHouseIndia event in Goa. Dr. Shobhit Jain, Executive Director, FSSAI highlighted three new initiatives – Clean & Safe Sweet Shop, Eat Right Catering, and Food Safety Mitra, at the Lighthouse India event.

Dr. H.G. Koshia, Comissioner of Food Safety, Gujarat shares the State’s experience along with the challenges it overcame to implement #EatRightIndia initiatives. Kankaria Street in Ahmedabad was declared as the first FSSAI-certified Clean Street Food Hub in the country.

Shri Anil Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Food Safety, Kerala, highlighted the State’s intervention through training of FBOs on alternative options for trans fat, IEC campaigns, etc. for on-ground implementation.

Shri Nilesh Masare, Food Safety Officer, Maharashtra, mentioned that 236 places of worship have been covered under BHOG with 3500 food handlers have been trained, at the panel discussion.

“Enforcement of regulations is important, but even more important are the components of monitoring and awareness building”, – Shri Sukhwinder Singh, Designated Officer, Chandigarh, shares the UT’s experience in implementing #EatRightIndia initiatives on-ground.

Dr. Bhaskar, Advisor, Quality Assurance Division, FSSAI highlighted the Sample Management System to maintain sample integrity from field to lab at the #LightHouseIndia event.
