Consume seasonally available vegetables and fruits for Health

Consume seasonally available vegetables and fruits as our palates change with each harvest calendar. The variety of foods consumed must complement the seasons – lighter foods in spring & summer & comfort food in winters, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare said.

For a balanced diet, make sure children eat the right amount & combination of GO, GROW, & GLOW foods. GO foods provide energy; GLOW foods help prevent disease & GROW foods build muscle for strength.

Eating local means celebrating the fact that healthy & nutritious food comes from your neighbourhood. Switch to consumption of local foods to treat your taste buds & grow a strong local economy.

Diversify your diets eating variety, local & seasonal. Diet tips: -Drink clean & safe water to stay fit. -Have low-fat protein rich foods viz pulses & sprouted pulses, lean meat & fish. -Prefer fresh & seasonal whole fruits over fruit juices

Staying hydrated is not only about drinking water & other beverages, but also about eating the right foods. Quench your thirst with foods with high water content like watermelons, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, etc.
