Strengthening of FDCA Gujarat Enforcement Team: 12 Four Wheeler and 100 Two Wheeler vehicles allotte

The Gujarat State has always been at the forefront for food and drugs regulatory system for the purpose of getting high quality medicines for the people of the state. The government is always ready to make the system more efficient.

Under the Central Assistance Scheme with a partnership of Central Government and State Government with ratio of 60:40 to upgrade the Drug Regulatory System, total of Rs 42.56 crore has been sanctioned out of which Central Government has released grant of Rs. 13.55 crore and State Government has allotted grant of Rs. 9.03 crore (40 % share from State Government), out of which Rs. 1 Crore for Two Wheeler (Total No. 100), Rs. 1.17 crore for Four Wheeler (Total No.12) and Rs. 1 crore for laptops (Total No.90) have been purchased.Recently Distribution of 100 Two Wheeler & 12 Four Wheeler vehicles and 90 Laptops were organized at Swarnim Sankul 1, Gandhinagar.

In the presence of Deputy Chief Minister, Nitinbhai Patel, State Minister of Health Kishore Kumar Kanani, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Punmachand Parmar, Commissioner, Food and Drugs Control Administration Dr. H. G. Koshia and all the officers of the Food and Drugs Control Administration, Deputy Chief Minister, Nitinbhai Patel had given green flag to the 12 Four Wheeler and 100 Two Wheeler vehicles that will help for better communication and transportation results in to increasing the efficiency of the FDCA officers.The allocation of vehicles will help the drug officers to reach the drug stores as well as the manufacturing units in shorter period of time and that will help to speed up the investigation process and to catch the wrongdoers quickly.

Gujarat has become the pharma capital of the country by retaining the first position in the manufacturing of quality medicines. Gujarat accounts for 33 % of India’s pharma sector, out of which 28% of the country’s total export of pharma sector comes from Gujarat. In order to make the system more transparent with help of good governance system and for ease of doing business, Gujarat Government has allotted 90 laptops to the FDCA enforcement team to make on-line process easier, faster, efficient and transparent.
