Today India is called ‘Pharmacy of the World’: Shri Mansukh Mandavia

Shri Mansukh Mandavia, Union Minister of State for Chemical andd Fertilizers & Shipping addressed 40th Annual General Meeting of Indian Drug Manufactures’ Association (IDMA). Dr. Sharvil Patel, Maanaging Director, Zydus Cadila Group, Shri Sandip Singh, Managing Director of Alkem Laboratories, Dr. Hemant Koshia, FDCA Commissioner of Gujarat, Dr. Arvind Kukrety, Deputy Drug Controller, CDSCO, Dr. Viranchi Shah, Chairman IDMA (Director of Saga Laboratories) and Dr. Shrenik Shah as well as other IDMA office-bearers & dignitaries of Pharmaceuticals sector were present on the occasion.

Excerpts of the Minister’s Speech:

“Today India is called ‘Pharmacy of the World’ and that gives us great pleasure and pride. Drug Manufacturing Industry creates both revenue and employment in big volumes. Government desires that this industry grows in leaps and bounds so that our economy gets even better and stronger.

Since Ancient times we have had big faith in Medicine and Manufacturers of Medicines.

It has been said in our country:

मंत्रे तीर्थे द्विजे दैवे दैवज्ञे भेषजे गुरौ । यादृशीं भावनां कुर्यात् सिद्धिर्भवति तादृशी ॥

(Meaning: One who shows a spirit of a saint towards Mantra, Teertha, Brahmins, Gods, Believers, Medicines, and Teachers will succeed in his Vision.)”
