Cadila Healthcare Limited received CSIR Diamond Jubilee Technology Award

Cadila Healthcare Limited received CSIR Diamond Jubilee Technology Award for Discovery & Development of Saroglitazar. The award was given by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and accepted by Pankaj R. Patel, Chairman, Zydus group.

“Insulin resistance is the root cause of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and the data from this trial reveals that Saroglitazar Mg, a next-generation Insulin Sensitizer without the edema and weight gain sideeffects, could emerge as a potent anti-diabetic agent for millions of patients suffering from Type-2 Diabetes.” said Pankaj R. Patel, Chairman, Zydus group.

Saroglitazar Magnesium was launched in India during September 2013 under the brand name ‘Lipaglyn’, for the treatment of hypertriglyceridemia and diabetic dyslipidemia in patients with Type-2 diabetes not controlled by statins. The Zydus Research Centre has over 20 discovery programmes in the areas of cardio-metabolic disorders, pain, inflammation and oncology. Zydus has in-house capabilities to conduct discovery research from concept to IND-enabling pre-clinical development and human proof-of-concept clinical trials.

With the objective to foster technological innovation based on innovative science, CSIR launched an annual Diamond Jubilee Technology Award on 26th September 2002 in commemoration of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The award is to encourage scientists, engineers and technologists to develop innovative technologies and products that are amongst the best in the world and enhance India’s image. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakhs, a citation and a shield.

CSIR Innovation Award for School Children-2019 Total eleven innovation proposals selected for award from 653 received and 17 children received the awards. The first prize went to Anmol Rathi and Harsh Agrawal, students of class Xth of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan’s R.K. Sarda Vidya Mandir, Raipur for their innovation on “ Novel technique for early detection of PANCREATIC CANCER through spermine level in human saliva”

Winners of CSIR Technology Awards for the Year 2019 The award for Life Sciences has been given to CSIR-CDRI for developing ‘A Novel Osteoinductive Molecule S-008-399 as Medicated Biodegradable Bone Implant Material for Fast Fracture-Healing’.

Physical Sciences (including instrumentation) The CSIR Young Scientist Award for the year 2019 in Physical Sciences (including instrumentation) has been awarded to Dr. Shikha of CSIR-CMERI (Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur), for developing a novel device for guided tissue traversal during surgical procedures, used for facilitating insertion of needle and its position evaluation.

G N Ramachandran Gold Medal for Excellence in Biological Sciences & Technology 2019 It has been awarded to Prof. Amitabha Chattopadhyay of CSIR-CCMB (Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad) for his outstanding and well recognized contributions in understanding dynamics and lipid-protein interaction in biomembranes

Zydus receives final approval from the USFDA for Clobetasol Propionate Lotion

Zydus Cadila has received the final approval from the USFDA to market Clobetasol Propionate Lotion, (US RLD – Clobex Lotion), 0.05%. This medication is used to treat a variety of skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, allergies and rash. Clobetasol reduces the swelling, itching and redness that can occur in these types of conditions. It will be manufactured at the group’s Topical manufacturing facility at Ahmedabad. The group now has 272 approvals and has so far filed over 360 ANDAs since the commencement of the filing process in FY 2003-04.
