Challenge before budding pharmacy students & professionals is to convert formulas in Ayurveda in
Our saints have inherited us the treasure of thousand of formulas in Ayurveda. The challenge before budding pharmacy students & professionals is to convert the formulas in scientific form as well as in modern form. This was stated by Prof. (Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and member of Board of Advisers of Accuprec Research Labs Pvt. Ltd. in ‘International Conference on Herbal Medicines: Research and Commerce – Global Perspectives’.
L. M. College of Pharmacy organised the 3-day conference at Ahmedabad Management Association. Accuprec was the co-sponsor of the mega event. Sukrit Biswas, Research Associate and Sanjay Trivedi, Head of Corporate Communications & HR of Accuprec were present on behalf of the Contract Research Organisation, which recently got the approval of Ministry of AYUSH for Herbal & Raw Material Testing, Formulation Development & Manufacturing.
Dr. Sheth addressed the conference as a Chief Guest. He said that I am also alumni of L. M. College of Pharmacy and I am feeling proud that due to the college Gujarat can became hub of Pharmaceuticals. Now L. M. College of Pharmacy is one of the premier Institutes of India, established in 1947 by Ahmedabad Education Society. The Department of Pharmacognosy was fostered with the exalted visions & endeavour of ardent personalities like Dr. C. S. Shah, Dr. G. C. Bhavsar and Dr. Malatiben G. Chauhan. We are happy that Dr. Maltiben is present in the conference. Herbal Medicines are becoming popular all over the world and trend of increased usage is seen. Keeping this in mind, the international conference on herbal will be definitely useful. Right now India’s share in world herbal market is around 10%, while China’s share is 18 to 20 %.
अमंत्रमक्षरं नास्ति नास्ति मूलमनौषधम् । अयोग्यः पुरुषो नास्ति योजकस्तत्र दुर्लभः॥ There is no sound that is not a mantra, no plant that is not medicinal. There is no person unworthy, what is lacking is an ‘enabler’.
Shri Lal Hingorani, Director of Pharmanza Herbal Pvt. Ltd gave presentation of keynote address. He stated that there is bright opportunities for development of Herbal sector of India. He gave examples of various herbal medicines & formulations developed by his company. Total 450 delegates including representatives from USA, Malasia and Thailand participated in the conference. PROF. JIRADEJ MANOSROI, Professor, North Chiang Mai University, Thailand was part of the delegation. ORAL & POSTER PRESENTATION was done in the conference. Prof. A. H. Kalro, Academic Advisor & Shri B. M. Shah, Director of Ahmedabad Education Society, which runs the L.M. College of Pharmacy presented the vision to developed colleges run by the Society. Dr. Mahesh T. Chhabria, Principal of LMCP welcomed all & Prof. Mamta B. Shah, Head, Dept. of Pharmacognosy presented Vote of Thanks. Prof . Praful Bharadia, Dept. of Pharmaceutics was the co-ordinator of the event.
