GCCI to open a Help Desk on IPR at GCCI soon
Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) celebrated “World Intellectual Property Day” on 26th April, 2019. On the occasion, GCCI President & BoA member of Accuprec Research Labs Pvt. Ltd. Dr. Jaimin Vasa mentioned that this day is celebrated the world over as propagated by the “World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)since the year 2000 to “raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life” and “To celebrate creativity & the contribution made by creators and innovators for the progress & development of societies across the globe”. He extended hearty welcome to the speakers & the participants in this conference. GCCI organized this event in collaboration with Centre for Entrepreneurship Development at the GCCI Premises.
The distinguished speakers on the occasion were 1) Mr. Bhagwat Patel, Member, IPR,Law, Innovation & Skill Development Committee; 2) Dr. Mayuri Pandya, Director-GLS Law College and Co-Chairperson,IPR,Law, Innovation & Skill Development Committee, 3) Mr. Padmin Buch, IP Domain Expert & BoA Chairman of Accuprec Research Labs,S)Mr. Jatin Trivedi, IP Attorney, YJ Trivedi & Co 6) Ms. Nilam Gadani, Patent Agent & Advocate, H K Acharya & Company 7) Mr. Ketan Bhatt, Trade Marks Attorney, H K Acharya & Company.
Dr.Vasa further emphasized that, the theme this year is “Reach for Gold: IP and Sports.” The global sports industry generates billions of dollars every year. Understanding intellectual property and using it strategically insport-related business can lead to success,growth and enriching the lives of sportsmen who gave their toil, sweat & blood to their profession. Dr.Vasa raised concerns on no of patents filling in India by Indians which is at 30% of total filling and further emphasized that in order to active 9 to 10%of economic growth, India hasto bean innovation led economy as well as the no of patents filling by Indians should improve. He declared intention of GCCI to open a Help Desk on IPR at GCCI soon.
Mr. Bhagwat Patel remarked that India is key role player in international trade & technological advancement. The country is rich in genetic resource, legislated laws for protection and administration of Intellectual Property Rights and also ratified International Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property (TRIPs)which is a part of World Trade Organization (WTO).
Dr. Mayuri Pandya informed the audience that that this year WIPO has announced the Theme for World Intellectual Property Dayas:”Reach for Gold: IP and Sports”. The theme helps in taking a closer look into the interplay between sports and IPR.This also helps to create awareness towards sports and IP inter-relation, protection of IP rights in sports, exploring the scope of Sports Law in academics and profession. She mentioned Innovation and digitalization have emerged as the key drivers of economic growth in the world, creating new business opportunities for our enterprises, and transforming the way our people work, live and play.

CII & MSME Department organised Two Day Certificate Programme on Patent and Trademark Prosecution in India, USA, EU and PCT in the Focus Sector: Pharma, Chemicals, & Lifesciences on 27 – 28 April 2019 at EDII, Gandhinagar. Expert speakers included Rajubhai Shah, Chairman, CII Gujarat State Council & Chairman, Harsha Engineers Ltd & Kishor Kadbe Assistant Controller of Patents & Design, Department for promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
Dr Sunil Shukla, Director, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Prof Dr Navin Sheth, Vice chancellor of Gujarat Technological University & BoA member of Accuprec Research Labs, Kamal Singh, Director, MSME – Development Institute, Ahmedabad, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India also spoke in the event. Keynote Address was given by Yogesh B Nirgude, IAS Commissioner, Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, Industries Commissionerate, Government of Gujarat.
A technical session on ‘Patent Searching – Insights’ was moderated by Shri Padmin Buch, IPR expert & BoA chairman of Accuprec Research Labs, Dr. Ashok Baria, Manager, IPR-Formulation of Amneal Pharmaceuticals LLC & Prashant Mehta, Vice President of Gridlogics technologies. Another session on Patent Drafting: Avoiding Pitfalls thereby Managing Time & Cost was Moderated by Shri Anilkumar Pandey, Deputy Director & Head of CII-MoMSME IPFC, Shri Kishor Vinchhi, Vice President-IPM of Macleods Pharmaceuticals Ltd & Dr. Raj Dave, President of Dave Law Group LLC.
BoB-GCCI MSME Helpdesk was inaugurated
BoB-GCCI MSME Helpdesk was inaugurated at GCCI premises by Shri A.K. Chugh, Deputy General Manager, Bank of Baroda, in presence of GCCI Office Bearers including GCCI President & BoA member of Accuprec Research Labs Dr. Jaimin Vasa. An MoU was signed between GCCI & Bank of Baroda. The Helpdesk will provide guidance free-of-cost as well as support to the MSME units with an objective of supporting them in thier growth journey. The Helpdesk will provide single-window support, counseling & consultation services to tthe potential/existing MSME units as well as act as a falicitatior for promoting and popularizing the chemes and incentives available to the MSME units.
