Novelty of bringing Technology to Ayurveda through the new concept of AyurTech

Round table Consultations on AYURTECH (Technology advancements) was held at International Engineering sourcing show at Chennai. The Joint event was organised by Ministry of AYUSH, SEPC and EEPC (Ministry of Commerce). Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush was the Chief Guest in the event.

IESS -VIII, being organised by the EEPC India with support from the Union Commerce Ministry and the Department of Heavy Industry, has emerged as at platform for the display of engineering products and solutions with around 400 exhibitors, 500 overseas buyers and 10,000 trade visitors participated in the March 14-16 show.

EEPC India chairman Ravi Sehgal said that IESS has a novelty of bringing Technology to Ayurveda through the new concept of AyurTech. India is known for its strength in Ayurveda and with technology interventions, Indian Ayurveda will be able to reach new milestones & global destinations, he said.

Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan, while inaugurating the VIIIth International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) in Chennai said that India to achieve USD 330 bn record exports this fiscal India is projected to achieve all-time record exports of USD 330 billion in fiscal 2018-19 with a major contribution coming from the engineering sector.

The Engineering Export Promotion Council of India organised International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS), an initiative of the Union commerce and industry ministry, to building the brand ‘Indian Engineering’ into newer markets of the world.

This year ‘Smart Engineering’ will be the theme which showcases India as a Global Hub for Manufacturing and Technology. Tamil Nadu has been chosen as the host state for the third time with the help of the Department of Scientific Industrial Research (DSIR), Department of Heavy Industry, Department of MSME, and National Institute of Design (NID).

Mahesh K. Desai, Sr Vice Chairman, EEPC. India said “EEPC India has chosen ‘Subcontracting’, ‘Industrial Electrical Machinery’, ‘Future Factory’ and ‘Innovation Technology’ as the 4 broad sub-themes in IESS VIII. Future Factory is the latest addition where we expect ‘Smart Factory Design’ and ‘Industrial Internet of Things’ on display.” He further added the other two additions at IESS VIII is (a) how to judiciously use Ayurvedic science by employing technology (b) the role of Design in increasing productivity and competency in engineering.”

C. H. Nadiger, Regional Director, EEPC India, said “Engineering Exports is the largest commodity exports in India’s accounting for 25 per cent of the total exports. In 2017-18, it achieved a record performance of USD 76.2 billion. Engineering exports registered 16.81 percent growth in 2017-18 as against 11.8 per cent growth in the previous fiscal. Currently, major markets like USA and EU account over 30 per cent of our exports.”
